“This isn’t fit for any living creature.” Before she could move any further, something plump and purple came speeding into the room. Shocked was not even close to what she experienced as she stared at it. There wasn’t a word in the English language to describe it.

“What the actual fuck is that?” She took a step back as it hovered closer. Yes, hovered as in a plump, purple, flying dragon.

“This is Bambi, a dragon shifter.” His voice was so casual she had to look at him just to make certain he really was as relaxed as he sounded. He was. Even a smile played across those cursed sexy lips.

“Dragon shifter. Those are real?” She looked back at the creature, who stared her down with intense green eyes. Bambi was not what one would expect a dragon to look like. She wasn’t this big green lizard with enormous wings and teeth to match. She was maybe all of three feet tall if standing. Her body was the color of a dark amethyst with a teal belly and wings. Her eyes were wide emerald orbs, and she was simply adorable.

“So, she can shift into a human?” Sabrina was having a difficult time wrapping her head around this one. Then again, she was a fucking vampire. Who would have thought it? Certainly not her.

“She can, but she has been stuck this way for some time. No one knows why.”

Well, that was just sad. “Does she bite?” Probably a good thing to know, since it looked like Sabrina was going to be trying to turn these shambles into a palace.

“No, but sometimes she gets hiccups and then you’ll want to be wearing your fire-retardant suit.”
